Type : Hospitality Project
Location : Na Kluea, Pattaya, Thailand
Size : 9,800 Sq.m.
Year : 2022
Status : EIA / Permit Approved
Scope : Architecture / Interior Design
Nestled in the tranquil Na Kluea district of North Pattaya, the Ki Pattaya Hotel Project offers guests a serene and luxurious escape from the hustle and bustle of the city's tourist hotspots. With its quiet and laid-back atmosphere, Na Kluea provides a peaceful haven for those seeking a more tranquil getaway.
The hotel is located 800 meters from the beach, tucked away in a secluded area of the district. Despite its proximity to the coast, the Ki Pattaya Hotel Project offers a respite from the crowds and noise of the more touristy areas, making it an ideal destination for those looking to unwind in a peaceful and tranquil setting.
The Ki Tree
As we embarked on this project, our team engaged in numerous discussions to explore different concepts. Although the site was not situated near the beach, we drew inspiration from the picturesque rows of pine trees that we often encounter while driving towards the coast. These trees exude a sense of tranquility and calmness, serving as a sanctuary from the chaos of city life. They also signal our arrival at the beach, prompting us to shift into a more relaxed state of mind.
Ki Concept
Drawing on the Ki tree idea, we decided to make the pine tree forest the focal point of our project, creating a space where guests can unwind and rejuvenate before embarking on beach adventures or exploring the vibrant city of Pattaya. We named the project after our client's initials, Ki, which coincidentally means "tree" in translation
The concept of trees continued to influence our design choices. We envisioned a new species of tree that could adapt to different building typologies, which we dubbed the Ki tree. The tree's ability to transform in different lighting and environments would imbue each building with a unique character, conveyed through the size and style of the columns, ceiling textures, and roof line finishes.

A Hidden Sanctuary
The masterplan for the Ki Pattaya Hotel Project centers around the concept of a hidden sanctuary, creating a tranquil oasis for guests to relax and heal. A wall of buildings conceals the beauty of the project from the street, drawing guests up a slope to the drop-off point at the second-floor lobby.
The guest buildings are divided into zones, with a loop pool surrounding the central swimming pool island connecting everything. The project's heart is the large swimming pool island with a bar area and seating zones. The project's self-contained environment ensures guests remain in a serene and peaceful haven.
Design &
Project Gallery
The project would feature multiple Ki trees, each representing a different building typology, from public lobbies to private guest rooms and facilities. Though these trees were from the same species, their unique traits would transform depending on the building's context. For instance, the lobby's Ki tree would have a tall ceiling height to allow for natural airflows and a large span to maximize the function space below, with planter areas only on the outer rim.
Ki Tree : Merging Nature with Architecture
Meanwhile, the Ki tree used in the guest buildings would transform into a balcony for the rooms, and in some parts, a planter area in front of the rooms. For the pool villa guest buildings, the tree would take on a large canopy overhang, providing a generous shading area for the private pools of the guest villas. In the central facility bar, the planter area would transform into a rooftop area with seating on the edge, creating a large overhang for the bar area below.
Our vision for this project is to create an oasis of calm and relaxation, where guests can immerse themselves in nature while still enjoying all the conveniences of modern life. The Ki trees would serve as a bridge between these two worlds, adapting and evolving to fit each building's unique character.
